USAID Mission Director Visits Projects in Aqaba

Aqaba- Building upon USAID’s commitment to employment generation for Jordanians, the USAID Jordan Mission Director, Ms. Beth Paige confirmed the importance of involving the citizens in developing their communities during the opening ceremony of “Sea Catch”, a project implemented by the Aqaba Fishermen Association. The project is co-funded by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) and USAID through its Aqaba Community and Economic Development Program.

 

During the ceremony, Ms. Paige met with association members who as a result of USAID assistance will manage a new wholesale distribution center to sell fish to local restaurants and hotels in Aqaba. This project is providing   job opportunities to a new generation of fishermen in Aqaba.

 

The Aqaba Community and Economic Development (ACED) Program is a USAID-funded program, benefitting the people and businesses of Aqaba Special Economic Zone. The program is funding several projects such as the Neighborhood Development Activity to increase citizen participation, the Community Prosperity Initiative to combat poverty, and the Capacity Building program to support NGOs in Aqaba governorate, as well as technical support to ASEZA.
